What happened in weekly workshop?
Week 2
Started bulding my very own website, and I felt it was a online living room. Everyone who comes here can sit on my sofa and communicate with me.
Week 4
Cooperated with classmates to choose a scenario to collect data, figured out what variable we need. We digged the data about students's egagement in library to observe their digital egagement in University of Leeds. Then generated a data set.
Week 5
I visualized the data form into charts like bar chart and pie chart. It inspired me that data can be very various in present. The variables I choose, the chart form I used both contribute to the different way for people to learn about the details of the data. Therefore, I realized that data is not always objective, because people who collect it or analysis it could be so subjective sometimes.
Week 7
This week I used a website AI program called “Teachable Machine”. This program can be trained to recognize images, sounds and poses. For example, if I want it to recognize images of me, I could upload my selfie, and any others’ selfie, too. I uploaded my selfie and a cartoon character. Then the computer stared learning about these images, finally it export two class which called “me” and “minion”. Then I faced the camera of the computer, the program immediately recognize me as the “me”. It can recognized well about the people and cartoon characters. But the interesting thing was, when one of my female classmate faced the camera, even she didn’t upload her images to the computer, it recognized her as “me”, too. My professor, Holly said, “Maybe it was because we stood in front a same background, the program recognized this element, so it thought you are the same person from one image.” I remembered I asked, “So could I assume that it is dumb?” Holly said, “Of course you can assume it is dumb. Basically it is what this class want us to do. We figured out the power and shortage of the AI program.” This was quite impressive for me.
